Our active residents enjoy a library, restored movie house, post office, coffee house, ethnic restaurants, and clothing boutiques – all within walking distance.  Should you wish to stay in, a variety of fun and stimulating social, wellness, and educational activities are regularly scheduled in the community.

One of our newest offerings is the Posit Science Brain Fitness Program, an award-winning, computer-based exercise program that enhances mental sharpness.  Studies have shown how the Brain Fitness Program strengthens memory and increases processing speed in healthy aging adults.

Grand Lake Gardens is conveniently located for easy access to the Bay Area’s great amenities. Freeway proximity allows friends and families to reach you quickly and visit more often. Ready links to public transportation are a benefit as well. Our buses can take you to BART, and our van transports residents to community excursions.

Our new dining room has a panoramic view of the Oakland Hills, with a deck that takes advantage of our area’s mild weather.  Nearby is beautiful Lake Merritt, where our residents enjoy boating activities and walking paths.

Right in our community center is the serenity of nature as well. An outstanding bird and wildlife sanctuary, the babbling brook of our Zen garden, and a lovely courtyard delight our residents. Garden spots are provided for residents who wish to have a planting area.  The garden is so lush and natural that it fits the requirements of the National Wildlife Federation!

In our intimate setting, you’ll quickly feel a part of community life. The privacy you desire is here, but you’ll never be isolated. Residents have varied interests, and there are always plenty of activities to join.
