Since 1966, Grand Lake Gardens has offered grand retirement community living to seniors.  Now we are offering flexible rental and continuing care contract options.

Grand Lake Gardens is one of the communities of the American Baptist Homes of the West (ABHOW).  ABHOW is a trusted nonprofit provider of quality retirement housing and health care services (www.abhow.com).  As an expression of its Judeo-Christian mission, ABHOW seeks to enhance the well-being and security of seniors through the provision of housing, health care, and supportive services.

ABHOW operates 11 continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) and 18 affordable housing communities.  CCRCs provide residents with the continuity of a flexible, independent lifestyle while offering the security of health care.  The ABHOW Foundation helps these communities by providing financial support to residents who require assistance.

Our diverse, non-sectarian retirement community is situated right in the heart of Oakland, Calif., a culturally rich city that Money Magazine lists among the best U.S. cities in which to retire.  Grand Lake Gardens has been voted Best Bay Area Retirement Community by the Oakland Tribune.  

We are accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission, an independent agency sponsored by the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.  This seal of approval assures residents and their families that our community meets national standards for quality care.
